September 2022 Most Anticipated

September! My favorite month of the year is almost upon us!

September brings not only more new books to check out, but also brings my Birthday! While September is my favorite month, it’s also one of the busiest of the year. The birth of 75% of my favorite people falls in September, it’s the end of the business year for work, and for some reason new life events always pop up. All in all, September always ends up being such a busy month, that allows for minimal reading.

Ya’ll there are so many new books coming out in September that I want to read. At this rate I’m never even going to make a dent in my TBR. I’ve been lucky enough to receive advanced copies of so many of these releases and will be posting reviews for many of the below in the coming weeks. Be sure to follow us to get updates when my reviews go live!

As I always do in my ‘Most Anticipated’ write ups, I’m sharing a few that I’m most excited for first. I then separate out new releases by their release date. I don’t go into too much detail on each of the books being released, because we’d be here forever, but you can always click on the image of the book to get more info.

So let’s talk about the 6 books I’m absolutely looking forward to the most / already loved that are releasing soon! Most of these are a sequel in a series, and I cannot wait to get my hands on them.

First up are the next installment in two series I adored! The Scholomance series is incredibly unique and I’m so excited that Naomi Novik decided it needed to be a trilogy rather than a duology. After the second book I felt there were so many questions left unanswered, and I’ve already put this one on my birthday wish list!

The Kiss Curse is the second book in the Ex-Hex series which was a BOTM pick last year. I love cute witchy romance, and found it perfect for October, aka witchy season. I’m still holding out for an ARC, but I’ll be grabbing it regardless.

Killers of a Certain Age is giving me major The Change meets James Bone vibes. Older ladies as assassins who are then being targeted by their own organization?! Yes please! This was such a cute and fast read. Fingers crossed it can become a series!

Killers of a certain age review

This is my first Adrienne Young read. I gifted the Fable series to my sister last year, but have not had a chance to steal them from here. I really loved most of this book, but I need just a little more to bump this up to a five star rating.

Spells for Forgetting review

Ginny Meyer Sain’s debut Dark and Shallow Lies was one of my favorite reads last year so I was stoked to get an ARC of her upcoming release Secrets So Deep. It’s one I’ll be diving into soon.

Finally Chloe Gong has a new series coming out in September. This time it’s a duology about a pair of spies posing as a married couple. I’m getting Mr. and Mrs. Smith meets 1930s Shanghai from the synopsis, which sounds amazing to me!

In the coming weeks I will have lots of reviews for some of these September releases, so be sure to subscribe to get weekly updates from SPEAKING OF…, and make sure to follow us on Instagram @speakingof_books.
