Speaking of...Meet The Bookstagrammer! ⠀ .⠀ Hi, I’m Allie & the show stealer in most of my posts is Sadie Lady. Sadie is out mutt we rescued back in September when she was barely 6 weeks ago. She’s come along way from being a scared 8lb stray to a 32lb sass magnet. She’s actually the best dog! She can sit, shake, lay down, and never terrorizes the house unless you count leaving her toys all over the place. She’ll do anything for a snack and her bark belongs to a great dane. We love this sweet munchkin so much. ⠀ .⠀ Less interesting but here’s some facts about me! ⠀ 1️⃣ I work from home as a project manager for a tech company, so Sadie and I get to hang out all day! ⠀ 2️⃣ I’m a runner and I’m slowly training Sadie to run with me. I think my next half marathon will be in April but I’m thinking about finally training for a dull marathon this year! ⠀ 3️⃣I just got married to my best friend of 8 years in December. Our wedding was perfect, my dress was 50lbs, and I’m very impatiently waiting foe our videos and pictures! ⠀ 4️⃣ I love to travel. I was born in Germany to a military family so I’ve been traveling my whole life. A few places I’ve been are India, China, Australia, all over Europe, & I lived in London in college. ⠀ 5️⃣ My undergrad degrees were in Intenational Business & Fashion Design! I’m hoping to put my sewing skills to use this year again! ⠀ 6️⃣ I love anything that involves red wine, reese fastbreak bars, potatoe foods, pizza, & tacos. Obviously I’m easy to bribe 😂⠀ 7️⃣ We’re a Chiefs family! Speaking of...TGIF⠀ .⠀ Yay, Friday, its my favorite day of the week! I’ve got just the thing to kick off your weekend too, a new book review! Books that get alot of hype are sometimes ruined for me but The Sundown Motel was not one of those books. This thriller was the perfect amount of mystery, suspense, & ghost story and it was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me. I have my full review up on the blog today, link in bio! I can totally see why everyone is loving on this one. ⠀ .⠀ The book switches between Viv and her niece Carly. Both experience the same supernatural events only 35 years apart. I loved both their characters and thought that St. James did a wonderful job building their characters. I appreciate that this didn’t fall into the stereotypical women gets nosy and then murdered vibe that is so popular. I totally recommend this one for thriller fans. Speaking of...2020 Goals⠀ .⠀ I know I’m a little behind but better late than never. I finally sat down and made my goals for the New Year, is it still considered the ‘New’ Year or is it just The Year now?? Anywho, I’ve got a new post up on the blog this AM higlighting my biggest goals for 2020! Speaking of...Backlist reads! ⠀ .⠀ We’re finally getting some winter in south Texas and by that I mean it’s 50 degrees and raining today. It does have me missing long weekends of pool weather though.⠀ .⠀ I’ve been meaning to read The Last Mrs. Parrish since last May, when I originally took this picture. I finally started it yesterday and finished it too! I didn’t realize the book was split into multiple perspectives til I was halfway through the story and let me tell you that saved the book for me. Amber and Jackson are the most unlikable characters and I almost wanted to DNF the book. But I didn’t and the second half of the book had me smirking the whole time. Speaking of...Pub Day! ⠀ .⠀ Happy #bookbirthday to The Will and the Wilds, the newest book from the author of The Paper Magician series. ⠀ .⠀ I love a good YA book, especially if it has a little magic in it. I find that when I get in a reading slump YAs always help me to get back into reading. The Will and the Wilds has an interesting take on magic and demons. Demons or mystings as they’re known in the book, have the ability to enter the mortal realm and humans have learned to steer clear of the woods where they come through. Enna knows this too but when one of the mystings tries to kill her, she takes the risk of enlisting a mysting to help her our. I really liked the way Holmberg crafted the magic within the story and I hope this is going to be a series. Speaking of...Bookclubs! ⠀ .⠀ We had our first Live discussion of 2020 for @letsreadrantrepeat bookclub last night. Our January pick was The Nickel Boys by Colsen Whitehead. When @readwithwine suggested the idea of starting the bookclub back in August I jumped on the idea. I’ve loved getting to hang out with Jordan and having actual conversations with other bookstagrammers. I hope we keep this monthly tradition up! ⠀ .⠀ Here’s a stack of all the books we’ve read for the book club so far. As you can tell we don’t stick to one type of book.
