October is basically made for Aardvark, so I’m expecting another month of weird, dark, atmospheric, and slightly unexpected picks. With spooky season officially here, I’m looking for a mix of horror, thrillers, speculative fiction, and a few wildcard picks that feel like the kind of books Aardvark loves to sneak into the box. As always, these are just my predictions, but half the fun is trying to figure out what they might choose before the hints start dropping.
I should have a confirmed spoiler so, if you’re interested in finding out what it is, DM me then on Instagram @speakingof.books.
Whether or not these are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not, all or most of these are on my October MOST ANTICIPATED list and my Fall Most Anticipated.

When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check reviews of all past Aardvark Books that I’ve read HERE or check out my list of all the picks I’ve read HERE, because who couldn’t use even more books!
Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong, but the anticipation and guessing is part of the fun right?!
October Predictions
This month’s list is a little all over the place in the best way. I’m predicting Another Name for Red, Strange Lights, and Milk Teeth for readers looking for something atmospheric and a little unsettling, while Until the Last Light Goes Out, Find Me Where It Ends, Portrait of a Haunting, and When the Night Comes Knocking bring plenty of mystery, thriller, and spooky-season energy. Exhumation, The Wall Is Also a Road, and Newbourne Park are my more wildcard picks, but they all have elements that feel very Aardvark to me or are previous Aardvark authors. And because they never seem to stick to one genre for too long, I’m also keeping an eye on Solar Eclipse of the Heart for something a little lighter and more romantic. They did hint at more romances last month so potentially we’ll see more of those towards the end of this year. Basically, October feels like it could be a really fun, and very unpredictable.
Do you think any of these will be picks?
I hope you found a book that you are truly excited about in this post.
