November 2023 | BOTM Prediction

It’s time for my favorite guessing game of the month! Predicting what our November Book of the Month picks will be. November is Non-Fiction November, and as someone who doesn’t read a ton of non-fiction, I like to use November to get caught up on some of the best non-fiction books of the year. I’m also hoping that BOTM plays into the theme and gives us some great non-fiction picks!

Traditionally November isn’t the biggest publishing month. The holidays are coming so generally I feel publishing companies want to get new books out before the holiday rush. With that said I generally find that November is the month were an older release is snuck into the lineup. These are generally a book that was released in the spring or summer, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a March -June 2023 release in this month’s mix.

I do have one confirmed pick, so if you’d like to know send me a message on my Instagram @speakingof.books! I have read a few of my predictions so far and have ARCs of many of the others waiting to be read. Be sure to come back in the upcoming weeks to see reviews for these.

Whether or not my predictions are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not, all or most of these are on my November Most Anticipated New Releases list and my Fall 2022 Most Anticipated List.

FALL 2022 MOST ANTICIPATED
SEPTEMBER 2022 MOST ANTICIPATED
OCTOBER 2022 MOST ANTICIPATED
NOVEMBER 2022 MOST ANTICIPATED

When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check out my most recent version of BOTM Add-On recommendations HERE, because who couldn’t use even more books! Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong, but the anticipation and guessing is part of the fun, right?!

Mystery & Thrillers

This may be an unpopular opinion, but I didn’t enjoy The Maid as much as most others. I like a decent cozy mystery but I just wasn’t a huge fan. But I can see The Mystery Guest being a BOTM since the first book did so well. I am currently reading The Mystery Guest and it’s okay so far. It hasn’t grabbed me yet but I’ll have a review later this week.

The Maid Review

I’d rather see The Professor and The Beautiful and the Wild as our mystery/thriller pick. I have copies of both but haven’t read them yet, hoping to get to them soon.

Romance

Do I actually think Bookshops & Bonedust will be a pick? No. Did I enjoy the heck out of this cozy fantasy that is a prequel to Legends & Lattes series? Yes, yes I did! I would love to see this as a pick but otherwise this is excellent on audio!

Historical Fiction

I’m so hoping The Madstone is a pick for November. It’s a western so it’s a bit different and might appeal more to our male members, but it’s also set in the Texas Hill Country (where I live)! Crook is also an San Antonian and I just am all about supporting local! Even if it would be a BOTM pick! Either way I’m going to read this.

Literary and Contemporary Fiction

Science Fiction & Fantasy

Naomi Alderman is a repeat BOTM author, and I could see The Future being a November pick. It was a decent dystopian novel but not a 5-star read for me.

Nonfiction

November is Non-fiction month, so I expect to see at least 1 non-fiction pick this month. My vote is on Class since Stephanie Land’s Maid did so well; but I’d like to see any of these three or Britney’s memoir as picks!
