September!
My favorite month of the year is almost upon us! September brings not only more new books to check out, but also brings my Birthday! While September is my favorite month, it’s also one of the busiest of the year. The birth of 75% of my favorite people falls in September, it’s the end of the business year for work, and for some reason new life events always pop up. All in all, September always ends up being such a busy month, that allows for minimal reading but that doesn’t stop me for putting so many more books on my TBR.
While the beginning of September is filled with new horror and mystery books, the end of September is bringing all the holiday reads! I’m not quite ready for those yet but I’m putting them on my TBR as we get close to holiday season. I’ve been lucky enough to receive advanced copies of so many of these releases and will be posting reviews for many of the below in the coming weeks. Be sure to follow us to get updates when my reviews go live!
As I always do in my ‘Most Anticipated’ write ups, I’m sharing a few that I’m most excited for first. I then separate out new releases by their release date. I don’t go into too much detail on each of the books being released, because we’d be here forever, but you can always click on the image of the book to get more info.
So let’s talk about the 12 books I’m absolutely looking forward to the most / already loved that are releasing soon! Most of these are a sequel in a series, and I cannot wait to get my hands on them.
I love Chuck Wendig books. They’re on the longer side but I just love his writing style and the mixture of horror and science fiction that he brings. His books are always unique and I’m already part of the way through Black River Orchard.
The Wanderers Review | Chuck Wendig
The Book of Accidents | Chuck Wendig
Other authors I adore are Mona Awad and Rachel Harrison. They write the best Horror/Weird/ Fever Dream type stories, and I am here for it! I have copies of their newest books and I’m so excited to read them and get myself to prepare for ‘spooky’ season.
Rouge Review | Mona Awad
BunnY Review | Mona Awad
Cackle Review | Rachel Harrison
The Return | Rachel Harrison
KJ Dell’Antonia is another author I enjoy. Her upcoming release is a lighter ‘Spooky’ season read. Her past books, The Chicken Sisters and In Her Boots were fabulous stories about friendships and non-romantic relationships, so I’m excited for a witchy read from her!
In Her Boots REview | KJ Dell’antonia
Technically Happiness Falls comes out in August but I’ve included it here because the last day of August is basically September. I didn’t like this one as much as her first book Miracle Creek but it’s still enjoyable.

Other books I’ve very excited for is Chloe Gong’s Foul Heart Huntsman. I’m almost done with Fortune Lady Foul and am excited to see how the second duology in the These Violent Delights world. The Unsettled, Land of Milk and Honey, Wellness and Bright Young Women are all at the top of my TBR.
My last book I wanted to highlight is a bit different for me but having a spirited toddler and navigating ‘new mom’ life has been a journey for me. Because of this Dr. Morgan Cutlip upcoming release Love Your Kids without Losing Yourself really spoke to me. I’m excited to have an ARC of this book, and while I’ve done quite a bit of self-work in the last year, I know I have to put in the work to maintain my own cup is full.
These are just some of the upcoming September releases that I’ve read and am in the process of reading, but if you keep scrolling there are so many other amazing books coming out soon.
