July 2021 Most Anticipated

Summer is officially here and we spent the weekend at the lake which was amazing! It’s hot, hot, hot in South Texas right now, so y’all know I’m laying out by the pool with a book every spare moment I get. I’m currently working my way through a hoard of July new releases and let me tell you, July is going to be a great month of releases.

As I always do in my ‘Most Anticipated’ write ups, I’m sharing a few that I’m most excited for first. I then separate out new releases by their release date. I don’t go into too much detail on each of the books being released, because we’d be here forever, but you can always click on the image of the book to get more info.

So let’s talk about the 5 books I’m absolutely looking forward to the most / already loved that are releasing soon!

The Final Girl Support Group is Grady Hendrix newest release. I read his The Southern Bookclub’s Guide to Vampire Slaying last year; and while it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, I sure loved it. Hendrix has a really great knack of writing quirky horror books. They’re definitely weird but in all the best ways, and his newest release is no different. This is perfect for my thriller and Riley Sager fans.

I love everything that Karin Slaughter writes especially her stand alone stories. Pretty Girls is one of my all time favorite thrillers and False Witness, her upcoming release sounds amazing!

If you are looking for a fun detective novel perfect for summer or if you’re just a huge Gilmore Girl fan, you’ll love Darynda Jones’ Sunshine Vicram series. A Bad Day for Sunshine, the first in the series came out last year, and the second installment which comes out this summer is just as good! I have reviews for both up, give them a look & then be sure to put these books on your summer reading list.

Based on true events, Kristin Harmel’s upcoming release The Forest of Vanishing Stars is amazing. I’m not quite done with the book just yet, but I think it’s going to be one of my favorites for 2021.

The Taking of Jake Livingston is a YA horror story that has some Get Out vibes. For some reason I’ve been on a horror streak and tend to really enjoy YA horror books the most. This one has ghosts and the supernatural and I’m here for it!

Lastly, I’m very excited to have received an ARC of Chuck Wendig’s newest book, The Book of Accidents. I adored his book The Wanderers, which you can see my review HERE. I’ve heard this is a great horror sotry with tons of supernatural aspects. I’m hoping to read it this week so be on the look out for my reviews!
