April 2024 | Aardvark Predictions

Even though Aardvark is great about giving us hints each month so we know what the picks will be before they ‘go live’, I thought it would be fun to start putting together my own predictions based on my reading and experience with Aardvark. This will be my third month doing predictions for Aardvark and if you have recommendations on format or what you’d like to see, feel free to contact me!

Unlike some other book clubs, I feel that Aardvark is a bit more of a wildcard when it comes to their picks. I don’t feel that they ever have a set formula for the genres they pick, but I have noticed the books all tend to have similar ‘vibes’ or similar themes and tones. While they’re also featured some well-known authors, I find that their books tend to be more on the edgy or experimental side and showcase more less known authors. Because of this, I’ve listed my predictions all together instead of breaking them out by genre.

Whether or not these are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not, all or most of these are on my March Most Anticipated New Releases, my April Most Anticipated New Release list and my Spring 2024 Most Anticipated.

When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check reviews of all past Aardvark Books that I’ve read HERE or check out my list of all the 2023 picks I read HERE, because who couldn’t use even more books!

Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong, but the anticipation and guessing is part of the fun right?!

April 2024 Predictions

Quite a few more predictions this month than the previous two months, but I’ve actually read a few of these already and think they’d make good Aardvark choices. How to Solve Your Own Murder has similar Cozy, Mystery vibes to The Socialites Guide to Murder. It was an enjoyable cozy and felt like an Aardvark read to me. Expiration Dates is also rumored to be an Aardvark pick and while I normally love a good Rebecca Serle book, there was just one thing that rubbed me wrong that I couldn’t get over.

I’m a huge C.J. Tudor fan. Her books are a bit more edgy, atmospheric, quirky, and her newest The Gathering was excellent. I’d love to see it as a pick in April.

Main Character would be a repeat Aardvark author. I have this lined up to read so stay tuned for my review. The rest of these picks have some heavy science fiction, horror, and magical realism aspects to them. I’m very much in that space mentally right now, so of course my predictions would fall more in line with those. Though with beach season right around the corner, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some lighter picks making the cut this month.
