April 2024 BOTM Predictions

Well…April is shaping up to be a fabulous release month. I had a heck of a time narrowing my Contemporary and Literary predictions down, which is new for me. There are quite a few BOTM authors with books coming out in April, so while I don’t think we’ll see all repeat authors, it’s likely a few will end up as picks and add-ons.

I haven’t read many of my predictions this month so far, but I am hoping to make it through at least two of these before March ends. I do have a review for Abby Jimenez’ Just for the Summer and in true Abby fashion, her writing always makes me smile.

Whether or not my predictions are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not, all or most of these are on my April Most Anticipated New Releases list and my Spring 2024 Most Anticipated List.

When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check out my most recent version of BOTM Add-On recommendations HERE, because who couldn’t use even more books!

Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong, but the anticipation and guessing are part of the fun right?!

**I do have a couple of potential spoilers. DM me on Instagram @speakingof.books if you don’t like surprises.

Mystery and Thriller

Daughter of Mine is my top BOTM mystery and thriller pick. I’d also love if Nosy Neighbors was a pick. It has a more ‘fun’ mystery/thriller vibe to it and I always feel these are great for Spring!

Romance

With her book being last year’s BOTY, I can’t imagine Abby Jimenez’s Just for the Summer not be an April pick. I really enjoyed the story and it’s a perfect summer read!

Historical Fiction

I’m a huge Chris Bohjalian fan. I don’t think his books have ever been BOTM picks, but The Princess of Last Vegas would be a great addition to the BOTM family. I’m hoping to start this one this weekend so stay tuned for my review.

Contemporary and Literary Fiction

I can’t remember ever having so many fiction books to choose from. Both Rachel Khong and Ann Napolitano are previous BOTM authors and I could easily see either of these being a pick. The Husbands, another one I’m hoping to read in March, is a debut that is getting great reviews and I’d ike to see it chosen.

Science Fiction and Fantasy

A gamble in the Science Fiction and Fantasy arena this month. While Leigh Bardugo is a previous BOTM author, Hester Fox’s book The Book of Thorns has a strong gothic feel to it, which fits into the BOTM’s arena.

Non-Fiction

I’m not a huge non-fiction reader but I love a good Erik Larson book. His books as been picks in the past and I always end up picking up a copy for my dad (and for me to read). After reading The Women I’ve been in search of other stories of military women. The Wives is a memoir that I think will fit the bill. It could be an interesting month if we get two non-fiction picks!

I hope you found a book that you are truly excited about in this post.
