It’s time for my favorite guessing game of the month! Predicting what our November Book of the Month picks will be. November is Non-Fiction November, and as someone who doesn’t read a ton of non-fiction, I like to use November to get caught up on some of the best non-fiction books of the year. I’m also hoping that BOTM plays into the theme and gives us some great non-fiction picks!
Traditionally November isn’t the biggest publishing month. The holidays are coming so generally I feel publishing companies want to get new books out before the holiday rush. With that said I generally find that November is the month were an older release is snuck into the lineup. These are generally a book that was released in the spring or summer, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a March -June 2023 release in this month’s mix.
I do have one mostly confirmed pick, so if you’d like to know send me a message on my Instagram @speakingof.books! I have read a few of my predictions so far and have ARCs of many of the others waiting to be read. Be sure to come back in the upcoming weeks to see reviews for these.
Whether or not these are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not all or most of these are on my November Most Anticipated New Releases list, which you can see HERE! When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check out my most recent version of BOTM Add-On recommendations HERE!

Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong but the anticipated and guessing is part of the fun right?!
Mysteries & Thrillers
Ok, so. I’ve read Haven’t Killed in Years. It’s weird, I kind of like it. Might be less of a Book of the Month pick but I’m throwing it in the running for November. On the other hand Best Offer Wins feels very Book of the Month, and I had to put it down for a bit because it was giving me a little bit of anxiety. However, I think that was based on my own life and exhausted rather than the book. I’ll report back soon! I also have Where He Left Me to read but as a repeat author I think it could be a pick or at least an add-on.
Haven’t Killed in Years REview
Romance
I loved An Academic Affair! It was such a cute read and I flew through it on my flight last weekend. It’s very much in Book of the Month’s realm and while it’s open door there are only 1-2 spicy scenes. Daddy Issues is probably a little out there as a pick but it seems fun and is being compared to Ali Hazelwood’s (another previous BOTM Author) works.
An Academic Affair review
Historical Fiction
My only historical fiction prediction for the month! Fiona Davis is blurbing this one, and honestly, I’m here for a female bartender uncovering secrets!
Science Fiction & Fantasy
I’m definitely thinking Fallen City, which is by repeat author Adrienne Young will be an add-on; but I’d love to see either As Many Souls as Stars be a pick since it’s being tauted for fans of Addie LaRue. I’m hoping it’s not too much of a speculative fiction story though and more focused on the fantasy/historical fiction aspects. The Glowing Life of Leeann Wu is one of my Most Anticipated November releases and it seems right up BOTM’s alley especially as it’s being compared to The Change!
Contemporary & Literary Fiction
Why do I have some many Contemporary and Literary Fiction predictions?! Who even am I! There are a few repeat authors I could see showing up in November but click the pictures to get more info on the books, because I couldn’t narrow it down. Maybe you’ll have better luck!
I hope you found a book that you are truly excited about in this post.
