Reggie Johnson thought she was answering an add to work for a card game company but turns out she’s just applied to be a familiar to an actual witch. The job comes with room and board, and she’s determined to stick with it. While she enjoys working for her quirky boss, the boss’ nephew, Ben, might be more than she can handle.
This enemies to lovers story was so fun! Personally, I always enjoy an Enemies to Lovers trope but unlike other stories using this trope, I actually like both of the main characters. Clare does a good job of introducing Reggie to the magic world, and I liked that she wasn’t immediately on board with it. I mean if someone told me magic was real, I’d probably not believe them immediately either. The magic system felt flushed out enough for a rom-com book, and there were plenty of funny antics and side characters that really added to the story. There is a good amount of steam in the story, but it didn’t feel over the top to me, but then again, A Court of Silver Flames is my favorite book out of the ACOTAR series, so take that how you will.
I really enjoyed this steamy romance and loved the relationship between Ben and Reggie. If you’re looking for a light, fluffy, and magical read, than this book is for you! I can’t wait to read Penny’s story!
