I feel that March is always the biggest month in the publishing world, and this year was no exception. In fact almost every ‘New Release Tuesday’ has almost a dozen new books that I’m excited for this month. You can see my full list of March Most Anticipated Releases HERE. So it’s no surprise that most of this month’s picks I was excited for.
This year I have decided to post my predictions for Book of the Month picks and 2 of my guesses ended up being BOTM picks. This month had no new add-on’s so 2 out of 5 correct predictions is pretty great, if you ask me.
One thing I really love about Book of the Month, is the continuous effort to showcase new authors. While I was very surprised that books such as ‘Act Your Age, Eve Brown’ were not picked up this month, I was happy to see TWO debuts in this month’s line up. I was incredibly surprised that there were no new add-on’s this month, as March is such a heavy publishing month; and there were quite a few that would have been repeat authors.
Check out this Month’s picks below and see what I put in my box!

March Line Up

My Picks
Of the five picks this month, I already had 3 of the 5. I had received advanced copies of The Lost Apothecary, The Revival of Opal & Nev, and Too Good To Be True. You can see my reviews for those below:
The Lost Apothecary | REVIEW
Too Good to be True | REVIEW
The Revival of Opal & Nev | REVIEW
I went ahead and added both books I did not have copies of to my box. What’s Mine and Yours was one of my March Most Anticipated and one of my predictions for March. I also added In a Book Club Far Away, which was not on my radar at all, but I love books about books!
Since I had plenty of space in my boxes and no new add-ons calling my name, I finally added 3 of the books that have been sitting on my BOTM TBR shelf. I’m so glad they finally added this option, and I have been using it so much.
Send for Me was a February pick that I skipped on last month. I had major FOMO about skipping it, so when it came back in stock this month I knew I had to grab it. N.K. Jemisin’s The City We Became, is the first in her newest series Great Cities. I’m a huge fan of Jemisin, so I’m excited to jump into this new Urban Fantasy series. Lastly, I picked up Cassandra Clare’s The Red Scrolls of Magic, which is also a first in a series. This YA Fantasy has been on my list for a while now and I’m excited to jump into it.
I hope this helped you to narrow down your options for your Book of the Month Box, or just gave you some new reads to add to your list. Comment below or head to my instagram @speakingof_books and tell me what you put in your box!
WHAT IS BOOK OF THE MONTH?
For those who haven’t heard of Book of the Month club or BOTM, it is a subscription program, similar to audible or other box subscription services, where you get (you guessed it) a new book every month. Each month members are given 5 different books to choose from. BOTM generally focusing on debut and emerging writers, and is known for having helped launch the careers of some of the most acclaimed authors in American literary history. In an attempt to read more books outside my favorite genres without having to siphon through all the duds, I decided to sign up for the monthly subscriptions. It costs me $14.99 per month, I choose 1 of the 5 books on the first of every month, and it’s delivered straight to my door. You can skip any month or roll your credits over to the next month, at any time. Since I started getting BOTM in 2018, I’ve really enjoyed some of the new authors I’ve been exposed to. If you’re interested in joining BOTM, I’ve added my referral code to the bottom of this post, which if you use, you’ll be able to get a discount on your first month (book)!
