My Thoughts

Catherine House was one of my most anticipated new releases coming out in May! You can see my other most anticipated new releases for the month HERE! I’m a sucker for a good seclued school with a hint of mystery and potentially magic, and so I was thrilled when this book showed up on my doorstep.

However, this book fell flat for me. The writing is absolutely wonderful. Thomas has the ability to put you into a trance while you flutter through the pages of the book. I have no complaints about her writing which is why I gave the book the stars I did.

Personally though, I’m a very plot driven reader. I need action, events, and climaxes in my readings. This book didn’t really give me that. I kept waiting for something big to happen, for a villain to be unmasked, or just to fully understand what Plasm was, but I did not get any of that.

While the writing is clearly very atmospheric, the plot really did nothing for me and I was left highly underwhelmed by the ending. If you’re less of a plot driven reader though, you will love this story.

This book is comes out tomorrow May 11th,  and you can get it HERE!
