My Thoughts

Ten Days Gone is the first book in Beverly Long’s new police procedural series called A.L. McKittridge. Set in the Midwest the series follows detectives A.L. McKittridge and Rena Morgan. I really loved the relationship between the two detectives. It’s very much a niece and cool uncle type of relationship. There is even enough background info on both characters to set this series up for multiple books.

We start the story after the death of a fourth women. The fourth women in forty days that has been murdered, each ten days apart exactly. The women have no obvious connections and it’s up to McKittridge and Morgan to stop the killer before another women becomes the fifth victim.

Initially when I started reading this book, I felt the writing to be a little juvenile but as I continued to read, I think it was really just because of all the setup. Once I got deeper into the story I found myself highly invested and really enjoying the main characters.

I think this will be one of my go-to basic crime books to read and I actually binged the second book already in the series, you can see my full review for that one HERE. This book is out now, get it HERE!

About the Author

Raised in a small town in Illinois and she was a frequent visitor to the little library. She has always been drawn to book featuring feisty heroines in dangeBeverly Longrous situations and wanted to be Trixie Belden or Nancy Drew.

She co-authored her first book in fourth grade, discovering the love of creating characters. In high school, she knew that writing was easy for me. If there was a choice between dissecting the frog and writing the five page paper about it, she volunteered for the paper every time.

She has a business degree, an MBA, and worked for many years as a human resources leader.

She has continued to be a reader, however, gravitating toward romantic fiction. And in her mid-thirties, decided that it might be time to write my her own book. Many years later in 2005, her first book, Stay with Me, was published. In the years since then, she’s written many more books and novellas.
