With May right around the corner, I’ve been looking ahead at upcoming releases and trying to guess what might show up in next month’s Aardvark lineup. They tend to strike a balance between buzzy new titles and returning authors, usually with a slightly darker or more offbeat edge, so this list leans into that mix of speculative, literary, and unsettling.

When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check reviews of all past Aardvark Books that I’ve read HERE or check out my list of all the 2023 picks I read HERE, because who couldn’t use even more books!
Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong, but the anticipation and guessing is part of the fun right?!
May 2026 Predictions
A few that feel especially likely include Abyss by Nicholas Binge and The Caretaker, both from authors Aardvark has featured before, along with I Know a Place, a short story collection by Nat Cassidy. I could also see titles like The Arcane Arts by S.D. Coverly, Immersions by Kyle McCarthy, and But Won’t I Miss Me? by Tiffany Tsao fitting their more experimental side. On the darker end, The Dorians by Nick Cutter and Nerve Damage by Annakeara Stinson feel like strong contenders, while The Girl with a Thousand Faces, Honey, Coyoteland, and The Temptation of Charlotte North would round things out with a mix of literary and genre appeal.
