The Last Murder at the End of the World

The Last Murder at the End of the World by Stuart Turton is a twisty, inventive thriller set on a remote, dystopian island where a murder occurs and a small group of people must solve it amidst the strange and dangerous environment. The story follows a series of escalating mysteries, with eerie fog, enigmatic characters, and bizarre circumstances that constantly keep you guessing.

I am in the minority of people who didn’t love The 7½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle. I like the books and always adore the ideas behind Turton’s stories, but I crave closure…and that’s my biggest challenge with his novels. I need answers! How did the fog happen? What’s in the fog? What’s happening to everyone? Turton’s books are inventive, well-written, and keep you engaged, but for me, they leave too many questions unanswered.

I listened to this one on audio, and the narration was excellent. It was clear, engaging, and really brought the eerie, isolated setting to life. If you enjoy dystopian setups, puzzles, and open-ended stories, this will likely be a hit for you. I loved the creativity and world-building, even if the lack of closure frustrated me personally.
