Alright well John Scalzi is now an auto-read author for me. After thoroughly enjoying Start Villian I decided to dive into his 2022 release, The Kaiju Preservation Society and I was not disappointed.

We follow Jamie Gray as he deals with unemployment in a COVID-19 world. When he runs into an old college friend who offers him a job, Gray really has no other options than to take the job, even though he has zero idea what the job is about other than it’s for an animal rights organization. Immediately upon departing for his new gig, on a whole new playing field, literally his new job is in an alternate world. It’s the Kaiju Preservation Society’s job to keep the well fair of these animals in check but also to keep others from our world from using them in a way that could kill millions.

If this doesn’t become a movie at some point in time, I will riot. Part Godzilla, part….something, if you are a science fiction or enjoy books with witty banter; this book is for you. I loved this book and flew through the pages. It’s a hilariously fun read that I just couldn’t get enough of. I’d love it if this turned into a series, just because I already miss all our main characters and this alternative world.
