How does Abby Jimenez continue to write the most sworn worthy and adorable book boyfriends? Every time I think she tops herself, she creates another adorable romance and couple.

Opening with a ‘Am I the Asshole?’ Reddit thread immediately hooked me. I’m a sucker for these types of threads. Add in the ridiculousness that is The Toilet King and a ‘Good Luck Chuck’ theme and I was prepped to be giggling the whole book.

When Emma stumbles upon the Justin’s reddit thread based on his situation as a good luck charm for the women he dates, meaning every women he dates immediately finds their ‘true love’ after breaking up. All the way in Denver, Emma also is considered a good luck charm and decides to message Justin. As the two continue communicating, and Emma’s starts looking for her next travel nurse gig, she decides 6 weeks in a cozy cottage in Minnesota near Justin will either be a great or terrible decision. When sparks start to fly between the two, both will need to overcome their past histories and present lifestyles to see if this could really be love.

Jimenez’s always creates the perfect mix of sweet and swoon worthy moments with real life representations of mental/physical health issues and complex family dynamics. This book was no except and the representation of family guilt, grief, PTSD, child abandonment, and more is portrayed flawlessly. I always love that she rotates chapters between our main leads, and our supporting characters are just as interesting as our leads. I also loved the way she tied this story into Part of Your World and Yours Truly. While you don’t HAVE to read them in order, I’d highly recommend it as it’ll just make the experience so much more impactful. This will be a perfect vacation and summer read, and while I’m still team Daniel and Jacob, Justin certainly gives us a run for the money.
