February selections are here and I’m…okay with them. Of this month’s picks there are 5 debuts, which I love! I started my Book of the Month account to get to know new authors so it’s my favorite when we see debut authors. We also have 2 repeat authors, and I know how some people feel about big-name authors getting selected as main picks, but when almost half of this month’s picks are debuts, I don’t find myself complaining. I also felt there was some diversity in the picks this month, including a short story and a memoir, which we hardly see non-fiction picks and I see that as a win in for BOTM. Since it is February, I always want to see more romance picks, but looking historically back at BOTM picks, I do always notice that February is lighter in the romance category, so for me that wasn’t unexpected. Overall, there are some really great options up for grabs this month!
I surprisingly have copies already of most of these, and while I’ve read only 1of them, I’m halfway through a second pick. The Women, one of this month’s 3peat picks was hands down a 5-star read for me. As someone who comes from a military family, raised by two retired colonels, and had family in every US war since WWII, this was such a significant novel for me and I loved it.

I’m actually skipping this month, mainly because I have copies of most of these already. I cannot stop recommending The Women though by Kristin Hannah, and I totally recommend picking up a copy. I’m also more than halfway done with The Fox Wife. While I’m enjoying listening to it and the narrator is wonderful, I think I would have been better off reading this book, mainly to keep track of names and places. I’m not sure if I like it more than The Night Tiger yet, but come back soon for my review.

I stay away from series with BOTM now, so counts Heartless Hunter out of my options. From there I have copies of Ready or Not, The Mayor of Maxwell Street, The Resort, Family Family, and Hard By a Great Forest. Family Family, Mayor of Maxwell Street, and Hard By a Great Forest are next up on my list to read.
While Good Material is getting good reviews, I didn’t really peak my interest so I’ll see about a library hold for that one. I’m extremely iffy on memoirs, but am interested to see how More does. I do need to read more non-fiction this year, so maybe I’ll come back to it. Lastly, I am not a fan of short stories. I always feel like I need more and so I decided to skip Neighbors as well.
All told The Women is my recommendation to put in your box this month!
