June 2023 Book of the Month

What better way to come back from a holiday weekend than with Book of the Month books dropping! I’m very pleased with this month’s picks, and while I’ve only read 1 so far, I’m part way through a second one, and basically all of these were on my June most Anticipated List. Not to mention I am blown away that there are 4 debuts this month! If you follow me, you’ll know I originally joined BOTM to get exposure to new authors, so I love months with lots of debut author.

All of this month’s repeat authors are add-ons. Which is the way I prefer them to be. I’m all for getting books from the same authors but I want those as add-ons. All in all, I’m happy with this month’s line up.

If you are still looking for something to read be sure to check out some of my Most Anticipated New Releases lists. If you’re looking for add-ons to put into your boxes, be sure to check out my BOTM add-on recommendations, which I update every couple of months.

My Box

I had copies of only two of this month’s picks so I had a hard time deciding what to pick. Almost everything was on my Most Anticipated list, so I treated myself and filled my box up!

I already have a copy of The Wishing Game and if you’re looking for something with magical atmosphere and a reminder on the impact stories have on our lives – than I 100% recommend adding it to your box. This is the only book from this month’s picks that I have read, and it was a wonderful story and debut!

The Wishing Game Review

I also have a copy of The Spectacular and am reading it now. I enjoy Davis’ books and while they’re not normally five star reads for me or completely blown away by her stories, they are enjoyable. So far I’m enjoying this one, especially since I just got home from New York City. Plus who doesn’t love The Rockettes! Review coming soon.

I opted out of Elin Hilderbrand’s newest release. While I think they’re prime beach reads, I prefer to get this one from the library. I also am still holding out for an ARC of My Murder, so I decided to skip that one for now, and add all five of the other options.

That’s what’s in my box this month! Did we pick any of the same books this month? Let me know in the comments below or over on my Instagram HERE.

Happy Reading

WHAT IS BOOK OF THE MONTH?

For those who haven’t heard of Book of the Month club or BOTM, it is a subscription program, similar to audible or other box subscription services, where you get (you guessed it) a new book every month. Each month members are given 5 different books to choose from.  BOTM generally focusing on debut and emerging writers, and is known for having helped launch the careers of some of the most acclaimed authors in American literary history. In an attempt to read more books outside my favorite genres without having to siphon through all the duds, I decided to sign up for the monthly subscriptions. It costs me $14.99 per month, I choose 1 of the 5 books on the first of every month, and it’s delivered straight to my door. You can skip any month or roll your credits over to the next month, at any time. Since I started getting BOTM in 2018, I’ve really enjoyed some of the new authors I’ve been exposed to. If you’re interested in joining BOTM, I’ve added my referral code to the bottom of this post, which if you use, you’ll be able to get a discount on your first month (book)!

I had SUCH a hard time choosing this month! I ended up with Ink Blood Sister Scribe, and The Spectacular. I can’t wait to read She Started It, The Whispers, and The Wishing Game also though!
