June 2021 Most Anticipated

It’s officially almost summer time! Summer is my absolute favorite season of the year. I love all the Texas sunshine and adore when it doesn’t get dark until 9pm. It’s also one of my favorite times to read, and I like nothing better than lounging by a body of water with a fantastic book!

June is brining not only a ton of new releases but also new reasons from so many of my favorite authors. Taylor Jenkins Reid, Karin Slaughter, Riley Sage, and Elle Cosimano just to name a few have all have new books coming out in June. In addition to that there are quite a few follow up books to some of my favorite 2020 reads coming out as well.

Three of this year’s most anticipated reads which are probably already on your radar are:

Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, while doesn’t replace The Seven Husband’s of Evelyn Hugo is certainly my second favorite TJR book so far. The Maiden’s on the other hand, is from the author of The Silent Patient and honestly it didn’t impress me. A slow paced thriller that never really gave me enough suspense to warrant the slow pacing. Towards the end it did pick up but ultimately fell flat for me. I have not yet read Riley Sager’s newest book, Survive the Night, but I’m hoping it’s more along the lines of Finals Girls than he’s two newest books.

Check out my reviews for two of these books below:

Malibu Rising | The Maidens

In addition to these a few other books I’ve been very excited about include:

A Distant Grove is the second book in the Maggie D’arcy Mystery Series. The first book The Mountains Wild was a one of my favorite mysteries last year, so I’ve very excited to immerse myself back into this Irish mystery. See my review for The Mountains Wild HERE.

So I actually didn’t even know about Elle Cosimano’s Season of the Storm series but it’s right up my alley. I will definitely be picking this series up when the second book of the duology, Seasons of Chaos, comes out in June.

The 4th book in Maureen Johnson’s Truly Devious series is coming out in June! Stevie Bell is back in The Box in the Woods, and I can’t wait to jump into another one of these page turning mysteries.

The Secret Keeper of Jaipur is the follow up to Alka Joshi’s first book The Henna Artist. I adored The Henna Artist last year and supposedly this one is suppose to be just as good.

We Are Inevitable is a fantastic story about the power of community. I’ll have a review coming for this one soon, but this is such a powerful YA book by the author of Again Again.

I’m currently reading One Hundred Years of Lennni and Margot and The Personal Librarian. I’m really enjoying both so far and will have reviews for them coming soon.

Realistically there are way too many books coming out in June for me to highlight them all. With most of these coming out the first day of June we won’t have long to wait, which is great for me and bad for my TBR list. In the coming weeks I will have lots of reviews for these June releases, so be sure to subscribe to get weekly updates from SPEAKING OF…
