May 2021 Most Anticipated

I don’t know about everyone else, but April flew by for me. After so many months of staying home, this was the first month that events started to take place again for us. We had a wedding, some bridal shower’s, and of course Easter events to attend to. I also received my second COVID vaccine this month, which left me under the weather for quite a few days.

Unlike March and April, May is starting slow down with releases, but that doesn’t mean there are not some really great options coming out. I have a few reviews up already for some May releases, but will have many more reviews coming in the next two weeks, so be sure to sign up to follow SPEAKINGOF.ORG to get weekly emails when those go live!

Of the books I’m most excited for releases in May, these are my top most anticipated.

Emily Henry’s newest release People We Meet on Vacation was a fabulous and fast read and this will be a perfect poolside/beach read. See my full review HERE

Local Woman Missing was a four star read for me. Filled with lots of twists with a focus on how little white lies can wreck a community. See my full review HERE

I really enjoyed Laura Hankin’s release last year Happy and You Know It (see my review HERE), so I was super excited to get an advanced copy of A Special Place for Women. I’m halfway through the story so far, and will have a review next week but off the bat it is giving me The Herd vibes but written a bit better. I wasn’t a huge fan of The Herd (see my review HERE) but I am enjoying Hankin’s new book so far.

A new feature I’ll be adding to my Monthly Most Anticipated Lists, is a section based upon the National Awareness topic for the month. May is National Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and I’ve highlighted a few of the new releases I’m most excited for by AAPI authors. You can also see my top 12 AAPI written reads HERE.
