When four adult siblings win the lottery together, they expect their lives to change overnight but money has a way of complicating things more than it solves them. As old rivalries resurface, secrets spill, and relationships are tested, each sibling must decide what they’re willing to risk for their share of the prize. Set over one whirlwind summer, Jackpot Summer blends family drama with questions about greed, loyalty, and what truly makes us happy.
I liked it, but didn’t love it. Jackpot Summer felt very… anticlimactic to me. I guess it’s kind of hard to beat a lottery win in the first bit of a story and without any ‘giant reveals’ the plotline fizzled a bit. Some sections kept me entertained, but others dragged on, and none of the siblings were particularly likable. There’s also a ton of miscommunication (or outright no communication), which if you’ve been here a while you know is my least favorite trope. All in all, it’s a fine read, but there are better sibling stories out there. If I win the lottery I will tell no one, (if I could get away with it I wouldn’t tell my husband either, because of his big mouth) but there will be signs I won. Looking at you prepaid daycare for the next 4 years and a kitchen remodel!
