A Stolen Child

In A Stolen Child, detective Maggie D’arcy returns to Ireland and joins the Gardaí, diving into a chilling case involving a murdered nanny and a missing toddler from a wealthy family. As Maggie follows the tangled threads of privilege, secrecy, and trauma, the case leads her through layers of deception and a community full of potential suspects. With personal stakes running high and the shadow of her past still influencing her decisions, Maggie must confront both professional and emotional challenges to solve the case. The story blends character depth with a tightly plotted mystery that keeps readers engaged until the final reveal.

I enjoyed the story. It’s a solid detective novel, and I’m glad to see Maggie officially join the Irish police. I’m not sure how much I liked the way the missing child plotline turned out; it felt like an easy out. I predicted the ending but still enjoyed the journey. I listened to this one on audio and it was a great companion on my drives last week.

While it can be read on its own, I’d recommend reading the series in order to fully appreciate Maggie’s evolution. A great pick for fans of police procedurals and atmospheric mysteries.
