June 2025 | BOTM Predictions

Summer is right around the corner, which means it’s officially time for sunshine, iced coffees, and the ultimate bookworm dilemma—what to pack in that beach bag! As always, I’m here with my June 2025 Book of the Month predictions, because nothing says “start of summer” like trying to guess which new releases are going to have us completely ignoring our sunscreen reapplication schedules. I mean, there’s just something about lounging in the sun with a fresh BOTM pick that feels like pure serotonin.

This month is looking STACKED with incredible new books, and I’ve already got my eye on a few must-reads. I’m talking thrillers to keep you on edge, romances to make you swoon, and those juicy literary dramas that practically beg for a lazy afternoon read. I don’t have any spoilers just yet (but feel free to DM me later this month if you want the scoop), and I’ve been making my way through a few of these upcoming releases already—because who needs sleep when you have a never-ending TBR, right? Let’s dive into what I’m hoping to see this June!

Whether or not my predictions are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not, all or most of these are on my June Most Anticipated New Releases, May Most Anticipated New Releases, and my Spring 2025 Most Anticipated List.

SPRING 2025 MOST ANTICIPATED
May Most Anticipated New Releases
 April Most Anticipated New Releases

When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check out my most recent version of BOTM Add-On recommendations HERE, because who couldn’t use even more books!

Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong, but the anticipation and guessing are part of the fun right?!

Mysteries & Thrillers

My June 2025 Mystery & Thriller Book of the Month predictions are stacked with some familiar faces—and honestly, I’m not mad about it. Somehow, I ended up with all repeat authors on my list this month, and while I’d love for a debut to surprise me as a main pick, I’d be thrilled to see any of these as add-ons. I’ve already read The Ghostwriter by Julie Clark, and let me tell you—it’s excellent. A twisty, high-stakes psychological thriller that had me hooked from page one.

Alongside that, I’m predicting Don’t Let Him In by Lisa Jewell, because honestly, who does dark and twisty domestic suspense better? King of Ashes by S.A. Cosby promises another gritty, fast-paced ride that only Cosby can deliver. With a Vengeance by Riley Sager is sure to bring all the mind-bending plot twists we know and love, and I Did Warn Her by Sian Gilbert looks like it’s going to be an unputdownable, sinister thriller that keeps you guessing.

Historical Fiction

For June 2025, my Historical Fiction Book of the Month predictions are stacked with powerhouse authors and captivating stories! Leading the list is Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which takes us behind the glitz and glam of early 1960s Hollywood, exploring the hidden struggles of fame. Before Dorothy by Hazel Gaynor is a magical prequel to The Wizard of Oz, offering a heartfelt look at the untold story of Dorothy Gale’s ancestors. The Stolen Life of Colette Marceau by Krist

Romance

First up is Sounds Like Love by Ashley Poston, where a heartbroken musician and a grumpy sound engineer find themselves trapped in a remote recording studio, forced to collaborate on an album that just might be their greatest (and most unexpected) love story. Then there’s As You Wish by Leesa Cross-Smith, a dreamy, heartwarming tale about a woman who inherits a charming bed-and-breakfast with a twist—every guest who stays has one wish that might just come true. It’s a story of second chances, magical coincidences, and the possibility of love waiting just around the corner.

Literary & Contemporary Fiction

My Fiction Book of the Month predictions are a lineup of literary gems that I cannot wait to get my hands on! First up is Flashlight by Susan Choi, a thought-provoking novel about a fractured family coming to terms with old secrets after a tragic accident. Notes on Infinity by Austin Taylor explores the intersection of love and quantum physics, following two scientists whose relationship is tested by both time and ambition. Endling by Maria Reva is a darkly humorous exploration of extinction—both personal and ecological—set against the backdrop of a near-future dystopia. Bug Hollow by Michelle Huneven dives into a small-town mystery where the arrival of an enigmatic newcomer stirs up buried grudges and forgotten dreams. Finally, The Accidental Favorite by Fran Littlewood is a witty, heartfelt tale of a woman who finds herself an unexpected celebrity after a viral video, and now must navigate the chaos of fame.

These fiction picks have a bit of everything—emotionally charged dramas, clever literary twists, and unforgettable characters.

Science Fiction & Fantasy

My Science Fiction/ Fantasy predictions are pure magic and mayhem! First up is The Mercy Makers by Tessa Gratton, an epic tale of gods, monsters, and the mortals caught between them, where an unlikely group of heroes must decide the fate of their world. Then there’s A Magic Deep and Drowning by Hester Fox, a gothic fantasy that weaves dark enchantments and forbidden love as a young witch must choose between her family’s ancient legacy and the dangerous new magic that calls to her. Finally, Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab promises to be another atmospheric masterpiece—set in a world where the dead don’t stay buried, and a reluctant necromancer must team up with a reformed grave-robber to solve a series of gruesome murders.

I’m always a sucker for immersive world-building and characters who must grapple with impossible choices, and these three books are practically radiating those vibes.
