An Academic Affair

Sadie Shaw and Jonah Fisher have been rivals since their college days. Two ambitious lit nerds always trying to one-up each other. Over a decade later, they’re both vying for the same coveted teaching job, one that could change everything for them both. When Sadie realizes the position allows for a partner hire, she proposes a creative solution: what if they pretend to be married to get the job? What starts as a logical, mutually beneficial arrangement quickly turns into something much more complicated and undeniably romantic.

I loved this cute little story! It’s smart, funny, and had that perfect blend of tension and chemistry that makes an enemies-to-lovers trope so satisfying. The marriage of convenience setup felt both ridiculous and completely believable in the best way. I did think the sister’s reaction throughout the story was a little over-the-top and dramatic, and it pulled me out of the moment a few times, but it did help move the plot forward. I love the profession academic information and learning how hard of a world it can be to thrive. Overall, this was a great weekend read with charming banter, academic rivals, and just enough spice to keep things interesting.
