It’s 1962, and Beverly Diamond’s picture-perfect suburban life crumbles when she discovers her husband, Larry, in a compromising position with his secretary. Left with two kids, no degree, and little financial support, Bev refuses to play the victim. Instead, she dives headfirst into politics, joining the campaign of Larry’s underdog rival, Michael Landau. With grit, wit, and sheer determination, she pushes Michael to modernize his platform, embrace women’s issues, and sharpen his image. Along the way, Bev proves not only to Larry but to herself just how powerful and capable she really is.
I absolutely loved Beverly! She’s sharp, determined, and so easy to root for. Larry, on the other hand, is the absolute worst (truly, he had me fuming every time he showed up). While I didn’t love the trials Beverly had to go through, I found myself cheering for her every single step of the way. I also want so many more books with Beverly and Michael. I wasn’t ready to let them go when the story ended.
This book was smart, funny, and empowering. I loved every page. 10/10, zero notes. All the stars for Sara Goodman Confino! Most of Goodman’s books can be found on KindleUnlimited which is a bonus for us KU users!
