March is such a big month for publishing and there are so many good books coming out that choosing 2-3 books for each genre was not an easy task, but I did my best! I’ve read a few of my predictions so far but have copies of most of the others. I’m entirely backlogged on ARCs lately, because my house has seen the regular flu, the stomach flu, ear infections, and just been plain busy. But we’re on the mend and I’m back to reading!
Every month, Book of the Month tries to offer up a diverse selection of books for subscribers. There is usually always one thriller/mystery pick, one romance/women’s literature pick, most months have a non-fiction or historical fiction choice, one contemporary/literary fiction pick, and one random pick, with YA or a second in any of these categories. Early releases are quite common, so I’ve taken a look at my April Most Anticipated List as well to draw up these predictions.
I do have a confirmed picks, if you’d like some spoilers DM me on Instagram at @speakingof.books.
Whether or not these are actually picks, only time will tell. Even if they are not all or most of these are on my March Most Anticipated New Releases list, which you can see HERE! When the picks are announced and you find you have space in your box still, make sure to also check out my most recent version of BOTM Add-On recommendations HERE!

BOTM ADD-ON GUIDE
Keep in mind that these are simply predictions and books I hope get chosen. I could get these completely wrong but the anticipated and guessing is part of the fun right?!
Mystery & Thriller
Both Julia Bartz and Deanna Raybourn are repeat BOTM authors so I wouldn’t be surprised to see one of these end up as an add-on. However, Saltwater is getting tons of press and I’d love to see it as a pick for BOTM.
Romance
Though it’s an April release, my top pick for the March romance is Abby Jimenez’ upcoming release. Most of her recent releases have been BOTM picks so I’d love to see that trend continue. I’m also mid-way through reading Any Trope But You and LOVING it, which puts it high on my list for BOTM romance picks.
Contemporary & Literary Fiction
Wild dark shore review
I think all three of these should be BOTM Picks. Two of these were 5 star reads for me and the third is likely going to be joining them in that ranking.
Historical Fiction
With two repeat authors having releases in March, I would love to see either Patti Callahan Henry or Emilia Hart’s books being a March pick. However, I’m really interested in reading The Women on Platform Two and feel that it’s a timely read based on the subject matter, so I’d love to see it as a pick.
Science Fiction & Fantasy
The rest of the Legendborn Cycle have been BOTM picks and I need Oathbound to be a pick just so I can have matching copies of the series. Oathbound will more than likely be an add-on though so either repeat author Erika T. Wurth or Laura Steven’s upcoming releases look to have BOTM vibes.
I hope you found a book that you are truly excited about in this post.
