The last day of March means the picks for April are up and ready to be added to your already overflowing bookshelves! No? Just me? I honestly think that April is the best month in the last year in terms of Book of the Month’s picks. I had the hardest time trying to pick what to put in my box. Good news, I did not add any books that were not this month’s picks to my box. Bad news, I picked all five of this month’s books. I fear I have zero control over my life at this point. In my defense 3 of this month’s picks have been on my watch list for at least two months now.
April Picks Rom-Coms are not normally my go to picks and I normally stay away from the BOTM ones. But with summer coming up I do enjoy some easy fun reads and this one fits the ticket.
One of my most anticipated reads of 2020. It wasn’t until the end of March that I started to hear more and more about this book but I have been trying everything to get my hands on an ARC for two months to no avail. I knew I needed this in my box because 1. It’s a Texas book & 2. It’s very true crimey in nature.
In the past year I have really been trying to get outside my normal genres. Historical Fiction is one of my favorite genres, but even then I find myself reading about the same events and eras. I’m enjoying BOTM picking more diverse Historical Fiction reads. I have a feeling I’m going to love this book hopefully as much as I loved The Night Tiger, which was a BOTM from 2019. While the stories are different they both feature a bit of Asian history and a bit of fantasy into the mix.
I read Lucy Foley’s The Hunting Party last year, and while a lot of people thought it was okay, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was a solid mystery and I think most people were looking at it as a thriller. Her newest books seems to be right on par with her first books, and I’m excited to read it.
My Box
As I mentioned above, I picked all 5 of this months picks. I just could not help myself. Each of these books sounds outstanding and I have only heard good things about all of them so far. Here’s to hoping they all rank high for me. Valentine is most definitely going to be the first one I read and the one I am most excited about.
